The Garden
The garden is spread over two acres with 20 acres of adjoining woodland and is at its best in late spring but there is lots to see at any time of year. The gardening year starts with the snowdrops and hellebores then goes onto bluebells and rhododendrons. In May Meconopsis, candelabra primulas and bluebells take centre stage. The poly tunnel is mainly for growing strawberries and salads. The extensive composting regime has to be seen to be believed.
You will see that Peter also loves the stripes on the lawn lovingly tended with a 35 year-old Ransome mower. The herbaceous borders put on their show in the summer. There’s a walled garden with raised vegetable and fruit beds to feed the family and 18 espalier apple trees against the walls.
